Many things can balance your Dosha, but one thing is for sure: the outdoors does wonders for anyone, whether you’re primarily a Kapha, Pitta, or Vata. Whatever you do, being outdoors is the one most accessible remedy for most of our daily ailments. Here are a few benefits that come from spending time outdoors.

Vitamin D is absorbed through your skin. It is not only essential for soaking in endorphins, but it is also a major component for your metabolism and immune system. This vitamin allows your body to properly absorb calcium and phosphorus intakes, leading to stronger bones and a healthier you! If you’re a Vata (i.e. naturally thin and light) you should definitely pay attention to this benefit as keeping your body strong is a top priority. For all Doshas, Vitamin D is also great for helping your digestive system!

Your quality of sleep.

Sleep. Sleep. Sleep. Nothing is more important for your overall health, both physically and spiritually. Did you ever spend the day at a beach and feel exhausted at the end of it? There’s no coincidence there! Natural light regulates your internal sleeping clock; straying from artificial light not only gives you more energy during the day, but also allows your body to wind down at the right time. Want to take things a step further? Start taking naps outside during the day, and maybe even try camping out one night. Sleeping under the stars is not only an enlightening experience, but is calming and decreases stress levels. Plus, glamping is all the rage!

Relaxation.

This one pretty much goes without saying, but being outdoors is extremely relaxing and a perfect place for meditation. Take a tech-free break and soak in all of nature’s wonders. Find a trail near you, or even just walk down the street, and appreciate what the outdoors offers us. Pitta and Kapha types should meditate outdoors as an efficient way to reduce stress and ease anxiety.
